Stirling engines are absolutely not 3-5% efficient, check your thermodynamics, they still operate under Carnot cycle. Gas engines are not 30-70% efficient, maybe co-generation steam brayton cycle turbines are... Internal combustion currently caps around 20% give or take 5% and maybe a little high...
