The Futarias ('futari' meaning 'duo' in Japanese) are a band made up of Shui (Lead Vocals) and Toosh A.K.A Andrew Bertuch (Lead Guitar). They grew up and are growing up in the great city of Melbourne, in which they both went to school at Koonung Secondary College.

The two did not meet until around yr. 9, and thank god they did because after that it was all go! They became well known around the school for only playing Jack Johnson covers. In yr 10 they competed in the Talent Quest alongside Tim Minter and Sean, jamming with Tim at lunch times got them the name ANSHUTIM. But regretably they did not win the contest.

At this point in time neither of them had found their passion yet. Shui was stuck at the back of the stage playing drums and Toosh was bobbing along to his one note bass lines. It wasnt until Mr. Forward their music teacher told Shui to sing backups for a class band in yr 10 that Shui discovered his voice. And Toosh did not realise what a magnificent instrument the guitar was until he learnt his first Red Hot Chili Peppers song, Under the Bridge early yr 10.

They went on and performed more and learnt more, taking any opportunities they could, whether it be a presentation night, an orientation night or even just a lunchtime performance.

In yr 11 they yet again signed up for the talent quest, but this time alongside Rowan Epstien on drums and Emelye Lovell on bass, both Toosh and Shui were in their right spot now. But yet again they did not win due to a bad song choice and lack of practice.

In year 12 Shui and Toosh entered the talent quest for the first time as the FUTARIAS, taking home the title after a ripping performance of Umbrella/No Such Thing. This could not have made them more happy, Unfortunatley though Shui was not there to recieve the award, he had to run out after their performance.

For their high school gradutaion assembly the FUTARIAS invited Matt Whitbourne to an intimate and emotional performance of Hallelujah with them. This will forever be one of their most fondest memories.

In the year 2008 they started recording videos and putting them on YouTube, keeping alongside them their one take vibe, and "do it for fun" mentality. Some say that the FUTARIAS have never recorded a song more than once.
Recently breaking into the Top 100 Most Subscribed Australian Musician All Time, it is with no doubt that there is indeed a market for their brand of music, as well as the combination of their flamboyant personalities.

Plans For the Future........... who knows...
