Hello, recently i started writing out my own linear funk grooves and i was wondering if it would help if i approached learning them in the same way to describe learning other peoples? For the most part, i am a more progressive rock/metal drummer, but i want to explore more funk style grooves. Im in an original project and i love to write out drum notation before i play it. Do you have any tips or what not on writing linear grooves, to make them funky, groove, live and breath like so many of the greats do?
