About this user

Born into a musical family, Mikey Chan has been playing guitar, composing, recording and touring around the globe for over 20 yrs. Mike's eclectic style of guitar playing denotes his mixture of Papua New Guinean, Asian and European heritage.

Having such a mixed heritage has served as an inspiration to use music as a vehicle to transcend beyond race, age, gender, philosophy, social status or religious affiliation - and tap into what it means to be a human being.

It is this kind of philosophy that has inspired colaboration with artists from across the globe.

Mikey Chan has appeared and colaborated on many albums on various labels over the years including the Mercury Prize Award winning album
of 2009, "SPEECH THERAPY" (Big Dada/Ninja Tunes), Phrase's ARIA Nominated album for 2009, "CLOCKWORK" (Universal) and M Phazes 2010 Aria Award winning album, 'Good Gracious!'. Mikey Chan's guitar can also be heard on Pharoahe Monch's 2011 album, 'W.A.R' (We Are Renegades) alongside the distinctive vocals of Grammy Award winning artist Jill Scott.
