Why is this a "future" weapon. Its a carbine based on the AR15. The ar15 was based on the ar10. The ar10 is basically the same weapon but fires the 7.62 nato round. This isn't novel, mack, its old news.

Maybe I'm just stupid because I've never owned a 1911, but wouldn't the simplest way to carry one with the best balance between safety and speed simply be chambering a round and lowering the hammer? Then, wouldn't one be able to thumb back the hammer and be ready to fire with no risk on the draw?
