@ toyotaprius79 - I think we will be *very* lucky to see the S priced at 37k euros equivalent here in the UK. Based on the disparity between actual UK forecourt price of the Roadster Vs US pricing (£87k Vs US$109k) the more likely UK price for the base S will be 87/109 x 57.4 = £46k. I read somewhere that it is going to be somewhat cheaper in euros. Still, assuming the UK discount of 5k is still available it will still be on my Xmas presy list come 2014 or so! MW

mmmssy998 Thanks for the information on the FIT I did not know that.

@chrisat46:
Minor correction to your last post, point 4
British Gas would normally keep the FiTs as well on a deal where free panels and fitting are supplied (as do other companies who offer that). The householder gets 'free' all the solar PV electricity that they can use from their system.

To mmmsssy998
1 Thank you for the correction (I'm Australian)
2 True it is a capital investment which is recovered over a number of years.
3 Absolutely true.
4 They get to keep the ongoing government subsidy for the green house gas reduction. The FIT comes of your bill.

To chrisat46
1) FiT is 43.3 p, not 42p
2) You cannot ignore the purchase cost of the PV, a large part of the FiT is to pay for this
3) To use your example and logic, if he had a non electric car, it would cost him less to run if he could also subsidise it with the income from FiTs
4) I don't think he is paid the FiTs - were the panels not installed for free by BG (they keep the FiTs)?

OH! Robert. You have tested the Renault Fluence Z.E before. What about the Renault Twizy, it's coming (to Ireland and the UK) very, very soon and it's cheaper than the Smart car yet full-fills all the needs the Smart would do in the city!
I'm asking because the Twizy would be a contribute to your EV motorcycle project and that I have been seeing ads for the 4 new electric Renaults (Z.E Renaults) all over Dublin! fyi The Twizy is a nomination of ''Most Beautiful Car Of The Year Competition 2011''.

To mmmsssy998 from episode 21: His PV installation averages 12.45 KWh/day leaving him a spare 4 KWh per day. If he does not recharge the car during the day. The feed in tariff of 42p means he can pull 42/18.5 x 8 = 18.16 KWh extra power from the grid to charge the car at no cost from his pocket! ( 18.5p /KWh from grid and 8 is the average KWh/day needed to power the car.) ( If he was to charge the car only at night, at rate 2 9.8p/KWh 8 KWh would cost him 78.4p at the feed in tariff of 42p he would need to produce 78.4/42= 1.87Kwh from the PV system to pay for the cost of running the car for the day!) He said he is not good with maths, that is why he quoted what British Gas, calculated the car cost him to run.
