I don't think Rollins has ever called himself an intellectual. He's got a point of view and it's real from his experience. I've listened to all of Maron's podcasts and I haven't heard any great take on the world that's vastly vastly more intelligent or perceptive or humble.

Notice how he didn't really debate Chomsky - he waited till Chomsky isn't there to really attack. He makes it sound like he challenged him but he didn't cite any sources. Anyone who's seen Chomsky in real debate knows he would wipe the floor with him. He's intellectually in another league.
