As early as I can remember, I have been a very creative individual in thought and in art. Whenever I had free time I would draw for hours and hours on end. I received an immense amount of joy in creating. At the age of thirteen, I was introduced to my first computer and was hooked. I created graphic interfaces for bulletin board systems using modems before the internet was widely used. It made perfect sense when choosing a major in college that it contain both fields of art and computers. This way, I could combine my two passions of art and computers into the career, Graphic Design.During my junior year in high school, my father created a screen printing company and I quit my job at Taco Bell and worked for free to learn everything I could about graphic design in the medium of silk screen printing.I started from the ground level and became the head graphic designer and knew the inner workings of the company from meeting our first client to becoming a national supplier of silk screen printed shirts for over 500 trucking companies in the United States. My father retired and sold the company, however I was asked by the new owners to stay on to help keep the same quality and standard the brand stood for. I worked for five more years despite rapid changes in the managerial infrastructure, until leaving to follow my true passion, which was teaching. Because of my extensive real world knowledge, and practical application of the software, I was called on by my teacher in college to help students that were struggling. I enjoyed it so much that when I earned my degree I started looking for an opportunity to teach.
In December of 2006, I applied and out of twenty-eight other candidates was offered a full time teaching position at Keiser University. It has been almost three years now and I thoroughly enjoy it. The courses I teach and their descriptions are listed below. My students mean the world to me and I pour out as much encouragement, enthusiasm, and knowledge as I possibly can on a daily basis. We are hosting the AIGA portfolio, review this year and I feel my students will perform well against higher degree institutions. My M.F.A. in Graphic Design from SCAD will help benefit not only my personal and professional development but also allow me to become a more effective instructor and an asset to Keiser University. Over two years I have received many awards: notable newcomer, faculty MVP, Instructor of Distinction, Certificate of teaching excellence and outstanding student surveys.
future goal for sure! Dave you have helped me change my life. You are helping Americans more than any politician. Dave Ramsey for President!
