A poem by Richard C. Pullen
Falling
Entrapped by her beauty a restraint too strong to fight held without emotion in the dark on that first night
And when I fell for her the first time I couldn't wait for her to call I fell in love so deeply I could only fall and fall
Too blind to see a one way love that's feigned and insincere Too happy with all that's false, the facade, the cold veneer
And when I fell in love the first time I was the tallest of the tall I fell in love so deeply I could only fall and fall
But now she's gone, I know for sure as she walks with someone new holding his arm like she held mine the love for him seems true
And when I fell in love the first time I thought my heart would stall I fell in love so deeply I could only fall and fall
After being so low, again I'm high I won't cry for what has passed I'll take a leap of faith and these words will be my last
And as I fall for you the last time I hear the angels call I fell in love so deeply I can only fall and fall

more
A poem written about the character of Blanche Dubois in the play by Tennessee Williams 'A streetcar named desire.' The video that I put together is influenced by the film version by Elia Kazan with Vivien Leigh playing the part of Blanche.
The poem is as follows:
The weathered grey buildings of Elysian Fields house the blessed of the working class and a destitute woman with rhinestones for diamonds dreams that time will never ever pass
With her 50 cent rented ragpicker clothes A treasured gift of an imaginary rose she still has to learn her hardest lesson that beauty is a brief possession
Piano blues drift through Elysian Fields the plantation life was better than this Desires run deep and fantasies are exposed as an Arabian Knight collects a kiss
The yellowing letters that she'd kept so long from Belle Reve to the Flamingo Hotel evoke memories of another boy who never loved this southern belle
With her 50 cent rented ragpicker clothes A treasured gift of an imaginary rose she still has to learn her hardest lesson that beauty is a brief possession

A painting entitled 'Last Orders' by Richard C. Pullen.
The painting is a juxtaposition of futuristic imagery against the image of the old man who looks anachronistic in the setting although not wholly incongruous.
Painted in 1981 and shown at an exhibition in 2008 at the Custard Factory in Birmingham entitled 'lost in S.P.A.C.E.' The exhibition was an attempt to 'reveal' artists to the public who were working in the Custard Factory at the time. The Custard Factory is owned by the S.P.A.C.E. Foundation, hence the title.
Richard was born in Birmingham and now lives in Rubery. He was at the Custard Factory from 1998 until 2010.

A painting entitled 'Rwandan Girl' by Richard C. Pullen.
When American G.I.'s came back from their tour of duty in Vietnam in the 1960's they had what became known as, 'the stare'. This was a 'trance-like,' inward stare brought on by the horrors that they had witnessed. It was the artists intention to capture this with 'Rwandan Girl'. The Rwandans, now at peace, are a warm and friendly people with a huge strength of character. But their memories of the horrors witnessed in 1994 continue to haunt and trouble those who survived.
