Don't understand a word of it, but it sounds incredibly cool.

Dutch drives me nuts. The cadence and consonants are pretty much the same as English. My ear tells me I should understand this. My brain won't let me.

Pretty good. Spelling is hard in English for native speakers. The exposure to speech in Alabama probably helped to get the feel for the cadence of the language. I've had the same problem in Europe. It gets easier. Good luck.
