Evening Magazine Play

Segments and clips from the original San Francisco version of Evening Magazine.

EM started in San Francisco in 1976 at Evening: The Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Show. The name was changed within the first year.

Hosted by Jan Yanehiro, Steve Fox, and for the first few weeks Eric Smith, Evening would spawn imitations around the United States at stations owned and operated by Westinghouse.

Fox stayed with the series for 3 years, being replaced by Richard Hart. Hart stayed for 10 years and was replaced by Mike Jerrick. Yanehiro stayed with Evening for it's entire 15 year run.

These surviving segments come courtesy of Jan Yanehiro, CBS, and various staff and crew members. Sadly, of the almost 3,500 episodes produced roughly 100 survive.
