"Five Long Years"
I sat on the steps of the old courthouse,
I was waiting for a friend to be tried.
He wound up getting five long years,
I hope he can take it in stride.
They say we have freedom of choice here,
We can sell anything people want to buy;
But in this free enterprise system of ours ,
There are certain things you better not try.
We've got senior citizens making our laws
With views that make sense just to them.
They are victims of lies and propaganda;
They don't know the things they condemn.
We have to change things , make them right
I'm tired of my friends going to jail
There's something wrong with our free enterprise system,
You better send your congressman some mail.
Tell him our country is supposed to be free,
But it's turned out to be for the powerful and rich;
And if he won't do something about it,
He's a no good son of a bitch.
