They called FREDDIE EVERETT "The Texas Legend" and sometimes "The Texas Hendrix." The videos compiled here explain that pretty well. They tell the story of his rise to near stardom. Freddie started loosing his strength, but continued to play, until he no longer could. He'd just signed a deal with SONY, when he finally lost his ability to play. He never got the chance to record with SONY and the contract was dropped. He had ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease (NMD in the UK), and by 2008 had became dependent on a ventilator and feeding tube. From then on, he was only able to communicate with an eye-tracking computer. Jason Becker had befriended him and they were planning on working on a project together. Music was Freddie's reason to live. Sadly, his battle with ALS ended on 04/02/09. RIP, Freddie. Truly, The Texas Legend.
About Me:
Hometown:
Freddie was born and raised in Houston, Texas.
Country:
United States
Interests:
Freddie was a big sports fan. He loved football and basketball. He held a football record at Jersey Village High School and played lots of basketball in his free time, until he became ill. He was all about the Houston Rockets.
Movies:
Freddie was a bigtime movie buff. He could tell you the names of every actor, the director and when it was made. He especially loved Westerns and Oldies.
Music:
Of course, Freddie was a music buff, too. His tastes where more varied than most knew. He didn't watch latenight talk shows, but he knew when the bands came on and would breakaway from his game for that. Music was everything to him. It was his life.
