Patricia Petibon - Durch Zärtlichkeit und Schmeicheln
First aria of Blondchen, from Die Entführung aus dem Srail, by W.A. Mozart.
Patricia Petibon, soprano.
William Christie.
I think for a coloratura with a light voice, Eb vs. E natural doesn't make too much difference. And it sounds like she has room to spare up there. Lovely!

Maria Callas: Havanaise Carmen
Maria Callas: Havanaise Carmen
With *this* Carmen you can actually see why every man trips all over himself to be with her. Not because she throws herself around, but because she's so self-assured and takes what she wants! Haha.

I think in a staged performance this would be wonderful, but in a chamber concert setting I would almost feel vulgar for spying on such emotion! Haha. Luckily it's a recording, so I can just enjoy it.

Elly Ameling sings Mozart
Elly Ameling sings Laudate Dominum from Vesperae de Dominica from W.A. Mozart KV 321
English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Raymond Leppard
I feel certain that with the high-flying coloratura and mind-blowing high notes Mozart occasionally wrote for women, he did not expect a sound that was utterly straight. Because vibrato is a natural quality of a healthy, relaxed sound, and I highly doubt anyone could survive a sustained F above ...

Agnes Giebel: Bach, Matthäuspassion - Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben
One of the best singers of Bach and other "Kammermusic" and also of "Liedern" of Schumann, Schubert, Brahms and others of her time. I am very proud...
In my opinion, this is so much better than many of the modern "Baroque" singers who find it necessary to take all vibrato and color out of the voice. This is much more expressive and beautiful.
