About this user
This is the body of a message I sent someone regarding the need for religion in laws. I elaborated and brought up some other topics (about different religions, why one believes, and why should one believe or not believe in the current government). I thought it would be good to post this, as it may give insight into what I believe, why I believe it, and why I act in the way that I do.
Will there be? What are laws? I assume you would confer that laws are a manifestation of certain natural and societal rights, conferred to keep these rights and commands intact, to enact a more unified (and civilized) society. If you agree with this, then since these laws are a manifestation of natural and societal rights, there must be a source from whence the knowledge of these rights themselves came from. That is where religion (a set of certain beliefs) fits in. To believe in a certain group of rights, one must believe that the world was formed in concurrance with these rights. A person's religion directly affects this, therefore, because religion is where a person's fundamental beliefs are present. For example, a full-blown evolutionist and atheist believes (theoretically) that we came from some atom floating around in space, and that we are just evolved pieces of goo. In this belief, there is no room for natural rights. There is neither room for societal rights. Basically, these people believe that we have no purpose whatsoever; no destiny; no calling. All we can do is live here and stimulate our chemical senses. Therefore, a person who believes these things cannot be consistant with his beliefs and accept laws as truth. For to this person, there is no truth or falsehood in these rights, because rights really don't exist. As you most likely have concluded by this point, I am a Christian who believes firmly in the Bible. What it says directs my actions for life. Because God spoke words that all men were created equal and that we are to seek God and there alone find happiness, my beliefs allow me to follow laws that presuppose that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are entrinsic rights of man (in being fully consistant with what I profess to believe). That is not to say that I will necessarily follow the laws of this new government in America, but I will follow them if they align with these written rights of every man. In conclusion, after having moved far away from your original statement, I disagree with Obama on many points because his proposals do not line up with my faith. Faith goes before the laws of man. I believe that the constitution (at least, at its base) does stay consistant with the Christian faith, though there is no mention of it by name. Laws are formed from beliefs, the fundamental beliefs from which laws originate are generalized as religion, and this religion directs every action of a person's life.
In Christ I stand, without Him, I have no legs to stand with, nor do I have the ability to write this to you, nor do I even exist. Religion is impossible to ignore because it is the foundation from which a man directs his path (or allows his path to be directed).
Thanks for responding, insight is never degenerative, performed correctly.
Sincerely,
A Believer
