Philosophy and Freethought videos on Ethics, Happiness, Religion, and Logic.

This is a themed channel, not my personal channel, and the theme is philosophy and freethought. This means that all the videos are on philosophy or freethought, my favorites list isn't filled with k-pop videos, and my subscriptions here don't include my favorite singers and bands.

The heart-shaped symbol in my avatar is an African symbol called Sankofa. It refers to the wisdom of learning from the past. I chose it mainly because it combines a symbol for wisdom with a heart shape, which here signifies love of wisdom.

(Note: Due to YouTube replacing Friends with Contacts, which appears to be useless and meaningless, I will be ignoring Contact requests.)
About Me:

I have a Ph.D. in philosophy, and I use this channel to further and promote the love of wisdom.

I don't believe in any revealed religion. I am open to mysticism, provided that the object of mystical experience is regarded as a mystery. I find value in Buddhism, Taoism, and even liberal Christianity, but I am principally a Secular Humanist.

I believe that human life (or other life sufficiently like it) is what principally has value. I believe that ethics is about living well, not about obeying an authority. If there is a God, I believe he favors the free use of our minds over blind faith.

Yes, it is a problem that other people also agree with you. That is why critical thinking is so important. Many people are infected with bad memes. Memes are mental viruses, and like biological or computer viruses, they will spread opportunistically. The body fights biological viruses with the immune system; computers fight computer viruses with anti-virus programs; and the mind fights mental viruses with critical thinking. So critical thinking is essentially the immune system of the mind. Just as it is important that your body has an immune system and your computer has an anti-virus program, it is also important that you practice critical thinking. Unfortunately, too many people fail to practice critical thinking, and that is a real problem.

Oh gosh, other people believe as you do? Well if that doesn't prove you right, I don't know what does. Oh, I know what can explain the numbers. It is memetics. I'll make a video about it. Also, if you look through my subscribers, friends, and subscriptions, you will probably find several more people than just myself who disagree with you.

You were previously talking about punishment after death, and now you're talking about God helping me in life. Are these ideas connected somehow, or did you go off on a tangent? As for God helping me, I know I can help people without them knowing about it. I'm sure that if God exists, he can do the same. And if God really does exist, he's welcome to go ahead and help me in any way that is truly helpful. But in the event that there is no God, I consider it prudent to take some personal responsibility over dealing with the problems in my life.

The only problem is that I am not the only one saying that you will be punished for not believing in God.

You can disagree with me all you want, but God is the only one who can help you through the problems you encounter in your life.
