1 in 50 children in
the United States are homeless.
50% left home because they
were physically abused.
While 30% left home because
they were sexually abused.
This is a problem.

Homeless Shelters across the country are shutting down due to lack of funding. Existing shelters are struggling to stay open. Many shelters lack the necessary supplies needed to provide their residents with food, clothing and proper hygiene.

The Forsaken Generation Project is a nationwide effort dedicated to ending youth homelessness and child sex trafficking in the United States. Our organization collaborates with local organizations and shelters across the country to create solutions, increase awareness, raise financial support and build a better future for the nations homeless youth.

The Forsaken Generation Project will consist of 3 major phases. The first is our nationwide awareness campaign. We will travel the country telling the stories of homeless children. Sadly the term homeless is often stereotyped. Many of these children are victims of circumstances that are far beyond their control. To make these children real to the lives of millions of Americans who are unaware of what these children are going through we will tell their stories.

The second phase is to begin a campaign to support organizations across the country who are working hard to help children and youth who are homeless. Their needs are great and we will work to support their efforts.

The third phase is to help create safe places for these children and youth across the country. Many of these children are fighting each night to find shelter but often times the closest available shelter for them is hundreds of miles away. No child is this country should have to search every night for safe shelter.
Right here in the United States, there are over well over 1.5 million children that are homeless. Many recent studies suggest there are up to as many as 2.8 million children who are homeless. Even more stunning is the fact that 42% of those kids are actually under the age of 6 years old. 32% of them are forced to participate in sexual activity against their will. Many fall victim to the horrors of sex trafficking. A third of them will become so hopeless they will attempt suicide. 13 homeless children will die every day.

There are over 1 million homeless students in schools nationwide. Less than 25% of them will actually graduate High School.

Children make up 27% — the fastest growing segment — of the U.S. homeless population, and theres no end in sight; the recession has forced many families out of their homes, making these youth just another group on the long list of victims, moving from couch to couch, shelter to shelter.

The statistics on youth homelessness are staggering. In 2 years the number of homeless youth has increased by 100%. Sadly these children have been overlooked for far too long. We must reach reach out with compassion and help these children who desperately need our help.
