Wasted about 3 days working w/ String Quartets version before I decided to use this version. Remixed the London Philharmonics version of Great Gig in the Sky, adding broadened stereo effect to entire song, added flange to first & last violin leads. The song was beautiful & the violin is the most perfect instrument to substitute for Clare Torrys surreal vocals; but hated that there were no vocals at all (the heart & soul of original). After, scheming of ways to extract some of the original to just color this version w/ some vocal touches & subsequently failing I went for the 57 cent PC microphone realizing w/ great amusement, who & what I was about to try & replicate (the feel anyway:). Actually, came off ok. Not a Great Gig but a pretty good one. My favorite part is the little piano loop, at the end. A last minute idea that worked out pretty slick. (less info)
