@MrVicist - Put simply, a 9 time Bathurst winner (in Australia Bathurst is all that matters as far as motor racing is concerned), and through his promotion of safe driving, he was able get his name into the media , and with his continued Bathurst success the legend grew.

@MaccasWell - Brock didn't race at Le Mans in 1982. He raced in 1976 (BMW) and 1984 (Porsche). He failed to qualify a Porsche for the 1981 race.

As for Sports Sedans, Brock started his career in them, he also raced the HDT-built Torana XU1 V8 in the mid-70s in Sports Sedans, drove Bob Jane's Mon...

@Holden308 - technically this wasn't the last Group C race, Baskerville held a race meeting later in the year that attracted the likes of Allan Grice, Steve Masterton and the Nissan team (Glenn Seton drove the Bluebird)

Walkinshaw was flying in some of his Group A wheels and qualifying tyres, but they got held up in transit, so they had to make do with what they had for qualifying.

In 1989 the last part of the track was much modified compared to this.

@nflfan85 - the qualifying was cancelled due to the rain, nothing to do with that crash

PROCAR... one of the biggest wastes of time in motorsport history.... this white elephant was responsible for killing the first incarnation of the WTCC, and the Group A regs themselves

The ex-BTCC Peugeot run by Tony Newman/Mark Williamson in the 1998 Bathurst 1000 was the 1997-spec car that had raced in Australia all through 1998.
