Tempo is critical in music....too fast and you can't hear the music, too slow and you can't keep track of where it's going. I like this tempo, although it is often done slower and people are used to it that way. Ravel once told a pianist who had played his Pavane for a Dead Princess very slowly...

This conductor should be shot. He rushed the piece and didn't follow Luciano. Pavarotti was great, of course!
