Flight Details _______________ Pilot in Command: Me (Flying - LH Seat) Passangers: My Dad (Filming - RH Seat) Plane: Cessna 172SP - Garmin G1000 Equipped Callsign: VH-KHE Date: October 7th 2007 Time: Around 11:00am Airport: Moorabbin (YMMB) Wind: All over the fucking place Duty Rwy: 35 Destination: Western Port Bay Altitude: 2500' Airspeed: +/- 110kts Flight Time: 1.2 Hours Number of Circuits: 3 Final Landing: Definitly not my best crosswind landing. (Overcorrected)
The aircraft I fly is the Cessna 172S NAV III Engine: Lycoming IO360 180BHP (2700RPM) Avionics: Garmin G1000 Cruise: 120 Kts (216kph) MTOW: 2550lbs (1159kg) Fuel: 201 Lt Usable Burn: 36 Lt/hr (Mixture Leaned) Range: 5h35m / 670Nm / 1240km / 770 miles Service Celing: 14,000 Ft Fixed Pitch propellor (Diameter: 76in, 190cm) Cost (Standard G1000 Equipped): US$254,500 (Approx: AU$305,000) Cost with everything: US$311,025 (Approx: AU$375,000)
This day I flew KHE for a short flight to get my recency back (3 takeoffs and landings every 90 days {3 months}) before the VCE exams - It was a nice day, CAVOK, however the wind was all over the place, with a croswind of gusts to about 5-10 kts (9 - 18 km/h) You can see the drift I had to apply on takeoff, to the left, and on the landings. The final landing I overcorrected a gust, went off the centerline a bit and the wheel started doing that shopping trolley thing (thats the annoying noise). However all in all, it was a pleasant flight. I'm planning a big one in the next few weeks, down to Wangaratta Aerodrome (YWGT), to get out of Melbourne and on a NAV. Can't wait!

This footage was taken by me, on Saturday March 24th. I know that was ages ago, but the footage that I uploaded onto the computer took up a lot of space, and needed to be compressed before being uploaded. (Max YouTube upload file size: 100MB)
I have another about 1.5 hours of footage, however it comes up to nearly 20GB, so I need to compress it, and I didn't have the time to do that, I'm doing Yr12.
The quality of this video is somewhat strained, I had to compress it once, from 490Mb to 45Mb

This Accident occured on the 24th August 2007
"A horrific evening for people vacationing at the Hazelmere RV Park close to the US border. People on the scene say they saw the balloon burst into flames shortly after take off and land in the park igniting trailers. Surrey Mounties say there were 13 people on board at the time of the accident, of those two have not been accounted for. It believed that some of the passengers may have been from the same family. They have been transported to various hospitals around the Lower Mainland to be treated for 2nd degree burns and fractures. Three mobile homes have been damaged by the fire but no one was inside them at the time. The balloon is owned by a Langley Company."
There were two bodies, a mother and daughter recovered soon afterward

This is a short excerpt from the film "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" directed by Alex Witt.
Alice, Jill, Carlos and Angie are leaving Raccoon city, trying to outrun the Umbrella Coperation Thermonuclear Bomb...
Note: In the script, the yield of the bomb is said to be 10 kilotons, which is around 1000 times smaller than a normal thermonuclear (Megaton) bomb. So, it was probably just a fission device, not a TN bomb, but hey, its just a movie!

The Zivko Edge 540 is probably the most well known Aerobatics Plane out there, built as tough as steel -- It can pull from negative 10 to positive 10 G's, and it has a 340Hp engine which gives it a fast cruise of 180Kts (324Kph)

This was me flying VH-MSN solo from Moorabbin Airport to the Mornington Peninsula (and back) on the 18th August 2007 at 1:00pm (EST). That's me in the left hand seat, my dad is doing the filming from the right. There is no takeoff, because dad didn't know how to use the camera properly, and he stopped the camera part way through the landing, that's why there is no footage of that. Aside from that, it was a very nice flight. The G1000 is fantastic.
The only problem I had was on the ground trying to get clearance for takeoff. I taxied to 35R, with about 4 planes in front of me and 3 behind. I had to wait for all the traffic to clear, until I was at the holding point, and I gave my ready call. But it was then that the tower decided to change the duty runway to 17 L and R, so I had to do a U turn at the holding point, taxi to the other side of the airfield and wait another 5 min for all the planes in front of me to takeoff. In the end I worked out that I wasted $60 waiting to takeoff. Not happy Jan!!
