Stefan Keller uses his body and all his senses to make music; with flutes of every kind he opens up a new world of sound for his listeners. The rich contrasts of his playing arouse emotions. The listener is alternately cradled in delicate, alluring tones, surprised or made to smile. His rhythm invites an unconscious physical response, his fascinating compositions draw you into a new tonal world.
His visualisation of tone and rhythm in colour and form (sound - drawings) complements Keller's music with a new dimension.
"The listener came to hear music and was overwhelmed by an amazing tonal experience. And at the end of a solo concert, he cannot help wondering if there were more musicians hidden behind the curtain..."
He has received various awards from the Aargau Curatorium for his innovative artistic oeuvre.
Keller plays quarter-tone, be-be, glissando, alto and bass flute as well as contrabass flute, gemshorn, kalimba and various bamboo flutes, acoustically and electronically.
He transcends the borders between baroque, classic, avant garde, jazz and improvisation both as musician and as composer.
An enthusiastic loop musician he is familiar with the latest live sampling techniques.
