Jennifer Zhou is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies in flute performance at the Eastman School of Music. Recently, Zhou was the only U.S. represented Finalist in the 18th Jeunesses International Flute Competition held in Bucharest, Romania. Jennifer made her debut in Carnegie Hall in October 2010. Jennifer debuted with The Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall on April 26, 2011. She was a member of the 2011 YouTube Symphony Orchestra held in the Sydney Opera House, was named a substitute for the New World Symphony in Miami, and won the 2010 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Award for flute. Jennifer has garnered numerous other awards, including first place in the 2009 National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition, the 2010 Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, First Place Winner of the High School Division of the 2010 Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition, the second annual "The President's Own" Marine Band Concerto Competition, and Finalist in the 2010 Astral Artists National Auditions. She was featured on NPR's From the Top. Jennifer began her flute studies at the age of six. Notable teachers she has studied with include Beth Owen (NCTM) and Martha Aarons (freelancing and former 2nd flute of The Cleveland Orchestra). She currently studies with Professor Bonita Boyd at Eastman.
