This was Lydon breaking free from the shackles and limitations of punk which was already becoming a uniform parody of itself as early as 1978 with all sorts of chancers stepping into the breach and claiming it as their own.

Most of the creative talented groups and individuals failed to thrive after 1983, it seemed people wanted slick pap like Madonna (who pre-1983 would have been a one-hit wonder) or sanctimonious over emotional bilge a la U2. This song is a reminder of the sort of gems we had before those dark time...

@dirtyxmexican It was the Saville Theatre in Londons west end, Beatles manager Brian Epstein's club which Hendrix played on the opening night in June 1967. He played Sgt Pepper but there is no film of that show, only images. This clip is a totally different show.

Amazed to hear this festival predated Monterey by a week yet seems to have been wiped from the annals of documented rock history despite it's stellar line-up.
