Mindblowing indeed. The power and incision of the BPO - just listen to the threatening opening timpani! - perfectly matched by the leonine playing of the Golden one. Incomparable.

To all the Sherlocks who noticed the mistakes - I had the very good fortune to see Gilels several times between 1978 and 81, and the mistakes almost characterised his performances! But the musicality was such that the mistakes simply didn't matter. And to anyone who suggests he was anything other...
