A big wash needs a big production to make it feelgood!
Most would scoff at the idea of turning a commercial for washing powder into a fast paced action film, but trust Jeremy Goodall of feelgoodfilms to sit back and say; "Sure....no problem". Jeremy loves shooting action films, it's what put him on the map years ago and JWT, Unilever and Surf wanted to make a big impact. Oh boy did they get what they asked for!
Although this commercial flows seamlessly, there were so many elements that went into shooting this commercial, proving once again why the feelgoodfilms' team is top class.
A helicopter, a 10 meter high dress, a 500 strong crowd, fire engines, Olympic sized swimming pool with bridges and platforms over it, underwater camera work, foam flying everywhere -- it truly has all the elements of a full on action film.
Why don't you watch it yourself? Pay attention to the difficult camera techniques used, teamed with the thoughtful use of backgrounds to enhance the "clean glow" of the enormous dress. Consider the clever use of scale and how Jeremy manages to create a connection with the crowd allowing the viewer to enjoy the atmosphere as if we were really there. The music and the charismatic presenter are the cherries on the top, resulting in an energetic and exciting commercial.
Looks like Surf's clean washing isn't the only thing that's bright.

feelgoodfilms gets steamy
Seasoned Director and Cinematographer Jeremy Goodall of feelgoodfilms together with TBWA Durban have put a fresh spin on a Radox classic commercial.
"The challenge was to modernise this commercial while keeping with the original overall message that we have come to recognise so well," said Jeremy. "I was determined to remain true to the essence of the original production but wanted to bring it right back into today."
Jeremy continues, "I focused on lighting and lensing with the lighting being soft and very low key. The overall look of the commercial moves away from the browns and blacks of the existing piece and now takes on a softer white with deep greens. When it came to lensing, I made use of the "Swing and Tilt" lens system along with the conventional Panavision long lenses. The challenge lay in finding just the right amount of balance when it came to using this technique as it always needs to be used sparingly."
The result speaks for itself, and once again the viewer is transported into a soft and warm environment, far far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living.

The second production in the recent campaign by TBWA Johannesburg for Liberty sees Jeremy Goodall, director and cinematographer for feelgoodfilms creating a production that is completely different to the previous productions in the series, yet still showing traces of elements that unquestionably tie them all together.
"I did the same thing only completely differently," smiles Jeremy, "I love this campaign, its clever, challenging and gives me the ability to really have fun with story telling."
Jeremy continues, "Due to the complex story line, we used carefully placed sync dialogue from the actors on one or two of the lines from the script. This technique is often seen in the Desperate Housewives trailers on which this campaign bases itself. This assists in the overall understanding of the piece while greatly adding to the humor."
The result is a "stuffing success" so to speak!

Liberty and TBWA Johannesburg enlist Jeremy Goodall of feelgoodfilms to continue the saga of the very popular "Protea Lane" Campaign.
The latest production moves in a new direction, breathing freshness into the campaign while still keeping in line with the overall feel of the previous productions.
The change of camera work helps to create a different look and feel, while many of the other elements remain the same providing the required continuity for the campaign.
In this production our favorite hero is at it again, strutting his stuff as only he can. This, combined with a clever script with so many hidden innuendos, keeps the audience entertained, while ensuring that a perceived complicated subject is translated into something that everyone can relate to.
Jeremy manages to create a commercial that reveals something new and funny every time you watch it!

In true Jeremy fashion he was able to accomplish this with ease, combining this ensemble into a melodic visual and inspiring piece that is true to the brief and a success for
Danamon Bank.
