H.E. Ban Ki-moon at FDU
Fairleigh Dickinson University hosted His Excellency Ban Ki-moon of the Republic of Korea, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the University's Academic Convocation on September 10, 2008 where he was confered an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree on the Secretary-General. In his address, "Thinking Globally in a Global Age" he discussed publicly for the first time about the development of a new initiative at the United Nations called the "Academic Impact", which will help the United Nations focus on building stronger ties with institutions of higher learning.

The main highlights of the lecture were -Saudi Arabia and its role in regional politics, Saudi Arabia's potential impact on peace in the Middle East and the impact of world financial crisis and fluctuations in oil prices on Saudi Arabia
