I recently picked up the 78rpm pressing of this one on the original Cadence label. This is SUPER tough to find - it was the last Everly Brothers 78 issued in the US.

It was the flip side of "A Thing Of The Past" which did get a considerable amount of airplay. Another classic from King & Goffin. This is my favorite of all the Scepter sides. My other favorite is "I Met Him On A Sunday" - first released on the Tiara label and then picked up by Decca.

Joni had that rare quality that made it seem that she was singing to the listener personally. I can almost picture her standing in front of me singing as if it was meant just for me.

A beautiful time - when songs had genuine lyrics and genuine melodies. A good song will never grow old. Nat King Cole was often referred to as "The Best Friend A Song Ever Had"...that says it all. Nat, you left us much too soon.

In the early 60's a group called The Starlets did a nice doo wop style version of this on Astro Records. The Starlets later evolved into The Angels.

There were so many good flips sides back then - lots of two sided hits. A record buyer got their money's worth in those days. If anyone wants to hear another good Columbia flip side, turn over "A White Sport Coat" by Marty Robbins to find "Grown Up Tears".

I've always loved this version because of the intro that is omitted from other versions. I also like The Beach Boys version with the beautiful harmonies. Sinatra does a nice version also on the Jolly Christmas.

I remember seeing this episode when it first aired in 1962 - I never forgot it - I never will.
