MOBILE, Ala. -- The Mobile City Council heard debate for three hours at Government Plaza on Earth Day about whether to overturn the Planning Commission's approval of Walter Energy's Blue Creek Coal handling terminal along the city's riverfront. But the only vote was to delay the vote for two more weeks to further study the issue. Council President Bess Rich invited the public to submit more information in the next two weeks.
This video shows Mobile citizen Dr. Ralph Pfeiffer, a pulminary specialist with the University of South Alabama Medical Center, making the case against approval of the coal terminal on the city's waterfront due to health issues and climate change due to global warming from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal.
