The Fashion Retail Academy was the first National Skills Academy to be opened in the UK in September 2006 and is backed by the retail industrys big hitters Arcadia Group, Marks & Spencer, Next and Tesco. Lecturers at the Fashion Retail Academy all have diverse retail experience, offering a wealth of knowledge about the fashion retail industry.

Sir Philip Green Owner of The Arcadia Group, who spearheaded the launch of the Academy with the other major sponsors Marks & Spencer, Tesco, and Next in 2005 said: The principal idea and concept for the Fashion Retail Academy originally was to train and prepare the next generation of young people for the workplace - this goal remains today, and we are delighted to see increased numbers of students each academic year, and a constantly evolving curriculum and range of courses offered. The ethos and curriculum have been created to encourage entrepreneurial talents through both unique behind-the-scenes insight and direct contact on a regular basis from many different areas of the retail industry.

The fantastic building located in the centre of Londons retail district has state of the art teaching and learning facilities. These include a mock shop, a variety of store windows and a buying and merchandising office replicating a retail experience at the Academy.

The work experience that is offered on all the courses at the Fashion Retail Academy is an integral part of the learning and our placement opportunities are continually growing. We currently work with over 50 retail leaders in addition to the Academys core sponsors.

Our Master Class Programme invites guest speakers from industry to talk to students about their experiences in retail. Past speakers include; Sir Philip Green (Owner, Arcadia), Sir Stuart Rose (CEO, M&S), Terry Green (CEO, Tesco Fashion) & Belinda Earl (CEO, Jaeger).
