About this user
I'm 25 years old, and my interests range from history, literature, trucks, tractors, John Deere (or anything farm) to American Sign Language.
I have been learning Sign Language for two years now. I have taken a few formal classes, but most of what I know comes directly from being around my Deaf and Hard of Hearing friends. I realize my signing is more PSE (Pidgin Signed English-- which is not quite English, but not quite ASL either)
BUT; when it comes to interpreting songs, I consult my Deaf and interpreter student friends on how to translate the lyrics into correct ASL concept and grammar. I believe music should be accessible to EVERYONE, that includes the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. And, in order to make that possible, I believe music should be properly interpreted using the above mentioned approach.
I hope you enjoy my videos, and realize my signing is FAR from perfect, but I am learning much everyday, and plan on taking more formal classes.
There are a few very talented hearing signers on Youtube, but I encourage you to check out the hundreds of Deaf youtubers that interpret songs as well. They are the native "speakers" of ASL, and if you want an accurate picture of the language in it's truest form--they are the ones to really observe. =)
