I did my first Big Chop in 1996. I did it because I was curious about how my natural hair really looked like and began thinking about the real reason I relaxed my hair. I grow out my relaxer for a few months then I got tired of waiting and cut the relaxed ends off. It was very freeing and scary at the same time. I had never cut my hair short before and I hadn't been without a relaxer in years. So going natural was totally new to me and I was clueless as to how to take care of my hair and I am still learning to day. I've read different books and tried different things. I had a texturizer in my hair up until 2005 after I had my daughter I found nappturality.com and it encouraged me to go completely natural (no chemicals). Then I got pregnant again and cut it short and put another texturizer in it. I was on youtube on day and saw a girl that went by the name of najahface and she encouraged me to once a can go chemical free! So here I am starting all over again.
