Wow, i hadn't noticed that the green bottles were hiding non-colored Whiskey. The Glenlivet 15yr and the Buchanan 12 yr are both green bottles and the whiskey is very yellow in color.

Hi Ralfy, I hear you say often that 'caramel' has been added to whiskeys. I have heard of this practice before, mostly to keep the appearance consistent from batch to batch. What I would like to know is how you can determine if it has been added?

You may also want to add that the Sazerac 18 is a limited release from the Buffalo Trace distillery. It is part of their Antique Collection that comes out once a year. If ever you can come by it; I highly recommend William Larue Weller and George T Stagg from the Antique Collection. :)
