Anyone who says Carl Hooper was a mediocre batsman obviously has nevr held a bat in his life. One of the most gifted players of his times. So what he doesn't have the average to back up. Flawed geniuses never care about conformity.

There wasn't a better sight in world cricket in '90s other than watching Lara and Hooper together. Both were my favorites. I remember this match in April '92. The game was bycotted by Barbadians coz Andy Cummins was not selected in the XI. For 4 days SA dominated this match, yet the guile of Ambrose and Walsh was too much for the proteas on the 5th day. Perhaps a prelude to the the choking status SA has accustomed it...
