We used to often find CNN American media crew with an antenna at Harajuku Hokoten in 1993.
They were sending stimulative images and sounds of Harajuku indies bands, boys and girls here from far east to all over the world. Then, CNN was getting very major rapidly after that scoop of bombing in the First Gulf War. We were amazed at this reality in front of us, believed that we could send any phenomena from any places globally, and recognized that the new media era had just come.

We reached the new era that we could be media even individually and launched MICROMEDIA to face to mass media. We took a naming hint from Microsoft and their computer software started to overwhelm the global market then. Official name is Virtual Creates MICROMEDIA.

In 1997, we opened our micro portal art website eyedia.com and started to send streaming videos on net earlier. Then, at present, global people can share the high quality pictures and videos on flickr and YouTube, and we have decided to open eyediamedia channel on YouTube, HERE!
We hope that many people will come and enjoy watching our videos.

1993年原宿ホコ天。第１次湾岸戦争の空爆スクープで当時急速にメジャー化したアメリカのＣＮＮテレビ局が発信アンテナも携えて取材に来ていました。世界のどこからでも自由に取材電波を送り出せることを、目の当たりに見て新しいメディアの時代を実感しました。

「岬から岬へ、吹き荒れる極地から城へ、群衆から浜辺へ、眼差しから眼差しへ、彼を呼び、彼に会い、彼を送り返そう。」
と彼、詩人ランボーが夢見たメディアが実現し始めていました。個がメディアを持てる時代、個とマスが直接向き合えるメディアとして「マイクロメディア」を作りました。当時パソコンソフトで世界を席巻し始めていたマイクロソフトに名前を真似ました。
正式名称は、Virtual Creates MICROMEDIA 。

1997年、インターネットの普及とともにアートサイトをオープン。アート系マイクロポータルサイト eyedia.com 。
ビデオの発信にも早くから取り組みました。しかし、flickr と YouTube により、質の高い画像・映像のネット共有が広がった今、より多くの人に見てもらうために YouTube に eyediamedia チャンネルをオープンいたしました。
