A silent 8mm movie filmed by Maurice Lyons, back around 1958 or 1959, when he lived in Tralee, and accompanied the 'Irish Radio Amateurs' on a group outing to Blasket Island, Ireland. Nothing more is known about this film, but shared on You Tube, as novelty viewing for people associated with Blasket Island, Kerry, or even the Irish Radio Amateurs' association.
It seems that the association is still very much up and running: http://www.irts.i...
The Elsie Mabel, the boat that picked the group up from the island, features in other films from the fifties of the area...Dingle in the fifties: James C. Houlihan's home movies: Blessing of the Boats(1951 and two other years) - Fife and Drum band - the blessing on the pier - boats at the harbours mouth and virtually the entire flotilla sailing in the harbour. Boats included are: ELSIE MABEL(Pats "Waistcoat" Brosnan)... http://indigo.ie/...

If you can offer any background, or identify any of the people in the film, please leave comments.

Check out the maintenance team in action on the tower structure, about half way down the lift journey from the top of the Eiffel Tower Paris, France, on Friday May 22nd, 2009. Also clearly visible are the floodlights which illuminate the tower across the evening Paris skyline throughout the year.
Dark at the top, before the window area became exposed to the outside world on the way down, a visit to the Eiffel tower is a spectacular event.

Last of three of Gerry Ryan in top form, on his RTE 2FM radio show back in the late 1980s, together with the renowned character, Terence the hairdresser from Cork.
Part 2: http://www.youtub...
Was so amused by the astonishing live exchange between Gerry and Terence back then, that luckily, pressed the record button on the radio cassette player in the kitchen, while listening to the great duo.
This second half of the second show of Gerry and Terence was broadcast within a few days of the first one. This second show is shared in two parts due to YouTube clip length limitations. So in total three parts (part 1, show 1, part 2 is first half of second show and part 3 is last part of show 2, and thats all there is!)
Had meant to contact the Gerry Ryan show each time I visited Ireland in the last decade, to let them know that this recording existed, as all word of Terence seemed to have been lost or forgotten until today (May 1st, 2010), when John Creedon participated on the Gerry Ryan tribute show, one day after Gerrys passing. RTE radio 2FM is available by satellite from ASTRA. Shared for those who like to remember Gerry back in the early days.
Always loved catching up on what Gerry had to say every time I visited Ireland. Heard him in good form chatting with his public a few months ago in February 2010. Rest in peace, our friend Gerry.
Its a radio show, so no need for visuals, though some photos of Terences home town, Cork city, from the eighties, included as a background.
