No offence but the ones wasting their time here are all those police officers . Since when does the police need to 'talk' people into doing things such as that guy leaving the area ? If they had something on him they would have arrested him duefully.

@PritamJaykar I agree, and furthermore the doctor's attitude during the unveiling of the twist doesn't coincide with the impression i had during the lecture of the short story. But then again, it might have been some poor writing sections that lead me to wrongly perceive the final scene.
