There was once a rich man who wore expensive clothes and ate the best food everyday. But a poor beggar named Lazarus was brought to the gate of the rich man's house. He was happy just to eat the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. His body was covered with sores, and the dogs kept coming to lick them. The poor man later died, but then God remembered him. The rich man had everything he could want physically! But he had nothing spiritually. He lived for himself alone. He was not rich towards the things of God -Luke 16:19-31. Today some live in affluence and are surrounded with all kinds of stuff. What matters to some is money and material possessions. Some who do not have these envy, respect and look up to these people. The rich man also died and was buried. The burial as usual was elaborate. God also remembered the rich man - but He did not remember him for good because he went to hell. The rich man was suffering terribly in hell when he saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. He said to Abraham, Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch my tongue. I am tormented in this fire! The Bible says, It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God -Hebrews 10:31. My friend, hell is a terrible place. It is a place of eternal suffering, pain, distress and misery beyond any human imagination! The rich man only wanted one drop of water, but there was none for him. He had it all on earth, but he had nothing in hell except pain and agony. Abraham answered, My friend, remember that while you lived on earth you had everything good and Lazarus had everything bad. Now he is happy, and you are in pain. Abraham continued to say, You cannot reach me, for there is a deep ditch between us, and no one from the other side can cross over. But the rich man said Abraham, please send Lazarus to my father's house. Let him warn my five brothers, so they won't come to this horrible place. Perhaps the rich man is sending a warning through this medium to you! God Himself says there is a day of remembrance. God remembered the rich man and Lazarus. God gave to each of them their reward. What will your reward be? Will you be where Abraham and Lazarus are? Or will you be with the rich man in Hell fire? Remember, God is not against riches and wealth. God wants your heart; He wants you to live a life to glorify Him. You need to appreciate God for the riches He has endowed you with. The Bible says, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus); That whosoever believes in Him should not perish (in Hell), but have everlasting life (in Heaven). (John 3:16). The Bible also says, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Are you ready to surrender your life to Jesus today? God does not want you to die and go to Hell as the rich man did. God has a good plan for your life. He says in the Bible, I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you an expected end. If God has touched you by this message you can go ahead and do the following and become a son of God, just like Lazarus. (1) The Bible says, Acknowledge your sins -If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.(1John 1:8). (2) Confess your sins -If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(1John 1:9). (3)Repent of your sins -Therefore Repent, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out (Ezekiel 18:30). (Ask God to help you forsake all sins!) (4)Pray and tell God you believe in His Son Jesus Christ, that He died for your sins and was raised on the 3rd day defeating even death. The Bible says, -If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. (Romans 10:9-10) As you close your prayer, ask God to help you grow in grace of Him and to direct you to a Bible believing church that will further help you to grow. Remember there is no other way to avoid Hell and go to Heaven other than through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! The Bible says, -I (Jesus) am the way and the truth and the life. NO-ONE comes to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME (Jesus), (John 14:6). Whoever believes in the Son (Jesus) has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son (Jesus) will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him. (John 3:36).
