I'm Paul Ranger(evertontube), a 48 year old African Caribean American from Brooklyn New York who Loves music of various genres, business, computers, the Internet, sports and spending some of my spare time watching videos on Youtube and other video sites.Business in this society is what drives the economy. Without business, the government would have no tax to collect so they could pay all those employees who believe they have a "secure job for life."
One of the greatest inventions in man's history, the internet, could not survive, at least not in it's current vibrancy without some way of paying for all that bandwith usage and everything that goes along with it.
For those of you who think that everything on the internet should be free including music and video, guess what folks? all those free videos on Youtube is paid for by all the ads you see on the site. Google didn't become successful by simply providing you with free search and left it at that, businesses who advertise on the site pays for your free search results. When you purchase from legit businesses on the internet, you keep cyberspace alive and growing.
Years ago in communist countries such as China and the "Soviet Union" the basic philosophy was, everything belongs to the state, and, as an indiviual, you were not allowed to own a business. Everyone worked for the government.
The communist experiment failed in the Soviet Union and they were desolved. What is left is just Russia and some of it's former union members. Although there is struggle and contoversey, Russia now permits indiviual business ownership, which has caused growth in their economy.
In China, although the government Is still clinging to Communism, They now allow private business ownership. Guess What? Their economy is said to be the fastest growing in the world. The communist government's philosophy of total dependancey on the state and free giveaways wrecked their economies. They had to abandon free givaways for responsible business.I hear, even Cuba is getting in on the act.
Without computers there would be no internet. If there was no internet I would still be dependent on the computer for things such as word processing, storing pictures, vides and music. My Music CD "Love Things" which I co-produced with Sam Archer, was recorded mostly by computer, reducing my studio cost tremendously. You can check out
one track from the cd here: http://www.newmusicpaulranger.com
When my computer is working well and doing what I need it to do I'm in love with it. When it starts to act up, It's like a rocky relation with a girlfriend. Because I love my computer and want to see her happy I am now taking a course in computer repair so I can please her. When she's happy I'm happy. I wish it was that easy with my human girlfriend..LOL.
When I was a kid in Brooklyn, I wanted to play baseball. I fell in love with the sport when I arrived in the U.S. in 1970. I watched the Yankees in Channell 11 WPIX, and The Mets on Channell 9 WWOR which is now My9. I couldn't play ball so well because my mother didn't want be to hang out in the ball park with other kids she didn't know. She was very protective, so I had very little playing/practice time.
When I visited my cousins in "Bedstuy," I had a chance to play in the tiny field accross the street from their apartment where their mother and my uncle could keep an eye on us. The other kids and even my cousins would laugh at me because I was lacking in the baseball skills department. I know if I had enough practice I would become a great player, because even with my inadequacy I was still able to slug out a couple of home runs every now and then. I did't give up on the game because I did't like it. I gave up trying to play with people who would redicule me.
Although I wasn't successful at it, sports is one of the items I love to highlight and comment on at http://www.newsnstars.com which is my brand new blog. Feel free to come by a comment. I'm adding new content and links as often as I can.
