In Russia she studied theory and history of music, as well as composition (Voronezh Musical College, 1990). However, her immigration to the USA in 1993 changed her professional direction into the science world, and she received her Bachelor's in Biology in NY (1997), then her Master's in Molecular Genetics at McGill University in Montreal (2000), then her Diploma des Cicles Superiores in Bioinformatics from University of Quebec in Montreal (2002).
Many years Eva was singing in a church choir, as an alto or even as a tenor. Nevertheless, in March 2004, she met her present vocal teacher who discovered her true voice: a lyric coloratura!
Since then she studies classical singing with Anait Khamroian, a former soloist of Tbilisi Opera (Georgia) and sings in numerous concerts. In 2006, she participated in master classes with maestro Sergio Bertocchi (Centro Universale del Bel Canto, Vignola, Italy).
Fluently speaking Russian, English and French, Eva also studied Italian at the University of Quebec, Montreal.
Eva Tonin performed live at Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall on May 31, 2007 to raise money for Gift of Life International — nonprofit organization administered for providing life-saving cardio surgery to the children throughout the world.
In the benefit concert for Odessa Children Hospital Eva Tonin — student of Anait Khamroian, a former soloist of Tbilisi Opera (Georgia) — performed works by Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Gounod, Thomas, Delibes, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tosti, Pauline Viardot, and Menotti.
