Eva Dean Dance (EDD) is a Brooklyn-based modern dance company that is known for its imaginative repertory and vibrant performers. The Company's repertory is genuine, atmospheric, conceptually dynamic, kinetic and humorous. Eva Dean Dance has performed at numerous venues in New York City, including City Center, Dance Theater Workshop, Joyce SoHo, Brooklyn Museum of Art, the 92nd Street Y, BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange, and the HERE Arts Center, as well as nationally and internationally. Site-specific works are one of the company's specialties and they have enjoyed the challenge of creating work for anywhere requested, from empty swimming pools to 19th century barns, from staircases to botanical gardens.

Eva Dean is a prolific choreographer who has created more than forty dances over the past 22 years. Throughout the years her choreography has received critical acclaim and accolades from audiences, presenters and students. Ms. Dean is recognized as a consummate professional who creates work that uses multiple elements to bring her choreographic vision to life. Choreographic intent that embraces intuition is the spring board for Ms. Dean's creative process. Ms. Dean's unique movement is honed and crafted while working with her dance company. Dancer's artistry and improvisational skills are an integral part of the work. Boots, balls, rooftops, and architectural design are specifically selected to enhance Ms. Dean's artistic vision. Ms. Dean works closely with guest artists such as musicians, puppet masters, lighting, set and costume designers to create a visually rich body of work. As a result Ms. Dean's lifetime body of work is diverse in scope, giving its audiences enduring memories.Ms. Dean has collaborated with numerous guest artists including Alloy Orchestra, Max Gyllenhaal, the creator of Zortz Puppets, Harry Mann (Solo Saxophonist and Performance Artist), Zoe Klein (Lighting Designer) and Jean Hill (Costume Designer). Other artists that Ms. Dean had the pleasure to work with in her earlier dancing years are Dan Froot, Simone Forti, and Susan Rethorst. Ms. Dean is a graduate of Hampshire College and still thrives on the experimental approach that was instilled in her during her formative years of becoming a choreographer.
Ms. Dean has set Eva Dean Dance repertoire on college and conservatory students, created new dances for Brooklyn Public school students, and taught master choreography workshops. Some of the schools that she has been a guest artist at include Hampshire College in Massachusetts, Bennington College in Vermont, Hartford Conservatory Dance in Connecticut, Brooklyn Public schools William McKinley and P. S. 56 and Alice Teirstein's "Young Dancemakers" in New York City.
