Ethan Thomas first started playing guitar when he was seven years old. Immediately he found a connection with the instrument and advanced through the stages very quickly. He grew more and more comfortable with the acoustic guitar and the music he played and started to sing and write his own songs. This fascinated him, and by the time he was 12 he found this as a way to explain things in his lyrics, that a conversation simply would not be capable of. Ethan started to perform in venues around his home county, Cumbria. Soon his confidence started to build and Ethan started to create a much more comfortable and laid back stage presence.
In Ethan's first year at Fylde Folk Festival he won the Tallyman Trophy, a competition that helped kick off the careers of international Folk Artists such as Kate Rusby and Tim Van Eyken. This gave him a big boost and before long he was getting regular spots at Solfest and many other prestigious festivals across the North of the country.
Earlier last year Ethan was one of the 15 New Roots finalists (winners). The competition was judged by Folk stars like Jackie Oats and Andy Cutting.
