About Martial Arts as exercise
The instructional videos on Youtube have enabled me to begin learning how to use a bo (Japanese 棒) or gun (Chinese 棍). I always thought that the staff itself was the coolest weapon in martial arts, along with other staff-based weapons like the guan dao.
I studied martial arts about 20 years ago in Asia and am finally picking up (now that I am nearly 50) where I left off. I am overweight and out of shape and am using martial arts as part of my journey back to good health.
I am sharing this journey back to the Youtube community and also putting together some very basic tutorials where I feel Youtube didn't have what I was looking for when I was starting out. I hope you find something useful here. Feel free to comment on what you see, but remember the context. I'm not some black belt wannabe or fitness expert, but just a regular middle aged guy showing you what you can do on your own for little or no money spent on expensive dojos or equipment.
