"During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us.' Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them." (Acts 16:9-10)

Owens' "New Testament" approach includes humanitarian aid, evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?" (James 2:15-16) By meeting basic needs such as clean water, food, medicine, or building a school or hospital, EMM has been able to build bridges of hope and trust. These bridges open doors for opportunities to share the Gospel to souls that are lost and hurting, and bring physical and spiritual healing. These doors of opportunities include evening festivals and celebrations, daytime visits to schools, hospitals, prisons, orphanages, and even street preaching. That is only the beginning. EMM fully invests in the lives of people by providing leadership and discipleship training to local pastors while working with local community leaders to plant and support churches for a minimum of two years.
