Jan Garbarek - Where the Rivers Meet!
One of the best masterpieces from Jan Garbarek. Taken from the 2 CD Album "Rites" (1998). Listen & Enjoy it.

@tiad I understand where you're coming from. But perhaps that Jan is Norwegian , or even Scandinavian , is important to understand the elements contained within the music. Folk melodies and church music primarily on the 'Rites' cd's. Which incidentally ranks amongst my most favoured albums.

Ian Dury related on Desert Island Discs (Dec 1996) how "Change Of The Century" was one of his favourite albums and that he'd played it all the time. One day he met Charlie Haden and told him he'd nicked the bass line for "Sex and Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll" from Ramblin' - Charlie said t...

I never realised that John had written this song - or even heard of him - until I saw him perform as a support act for the great Townes Van Zandt back in the 1980's. A memorable occasion and one which elicited a permanent respect for a genuine artist.
