Music in the early 70s, during my early childhood, was just better than anything we have today. There is no profundity in music today, no resonance, no poignance.

This guy needs to live in China for a few years and understand more deeply how things work there, morally and otherwise. He's an academic and has no idea of what bad things would happen if America sold out that much to China.

I think he was fake struggling to remember the National Book Award. It is probably a studied move he's used repeatedly over the years. That said, he does seem more down to earth and personable than I had expected.
