I am originally from Buffalo, New York, USA and a State University of New York College at Buffalo graduate. I have worked in the education field for nearly four years and possess teacher training in the USA. Upon training, I aided in reforms of Buffalo's public school system as a research aid with the State University of New York's Research Foundation. Upon completing my degree, I began my teaching career in Incheon, South Korea. Working in Korea for over two years, the many opportunities South Korea had offered became evident. Despite problems encountered, I remained in Korea and thrived in a variety of classroom settings. Positions ranging from working online to working with kindergarten students have developed my ability in a variety of settings. Initially, I discovered the intricacies of the English language through several trans-Atlantic voyages to the United Kingdom. Listening to my pronunciation and word choice, Britons often questioned if America and the United Kingdom shared a common language. In England elevators are "lifts" and in the USA lifts are forms of road transportation etc. Spoken as an official language in over ten countries, English dialects developed over time, making it the world's most diverse language. Working with students for many years instills the belief that English was a language developed by the "verbally insane." In English, writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, however the plural form of booth is not beeth but booth? Therefore the plural form goose is geese and moose is meese? Because of its inconsistencies, finding a fail-proof system for learning English is at times a daunting task. I believe all languages must be mastered orally before they can be mastered in written form. It is only through frequent activities that stimulate students' artistic, auditory, visual, interpersonal, and kinesthetic abilities that acquiring new communication skills can be achieved. Because languages such as English were developed over time through human interaction and not by computers, creativity over logic is essential in the English-language learning process; therefore as an educator, I believe that students' abstract thinking should be challenged. Through interactive tasks, I encourage the use of new vocabulary and sentence structure in the classroom to cultivate the perfect balance of creative and logical aptitudes in each student because I believe a progressive approach -- teaching students to learn how to learn -- gives them the tools for learning for today's as well as tomorrow's endeavors. For speakers of English, I now offer English courses online. Thanks modern technology, students living as far away as South Korea can receive private, personalized tutoring from thousands of miles away in another continent; so close, yet so far away, from my office to your home - worldwide. For more information, contact me at englishteach61@yahoo.com
