i've looked into this. not cool, just one more thing around thats not good for your health. but one perspective i havnt considered until recently is it could be an attempt to block out solar radiation/particles ejected from the sun among other reasons. there is a big solar storm goin on as i write this, confirmed and visible on the website. the one hitting us right now is capable of causing radio blackouts. it to me would be an arguable reason to blanket the sky. looks like a lose lose though. here is the nasa wesite if you interested http://www.noaa.gov/
