The camera is a cheap CCD bullet camera (CCD chip gives a better picture than CMOS chip). http://www.viewtech.co.nz/ sell a similar one to what I've got for NZ$130. I had problems with a component breaking off the circuit board in my camera but was able to fix it, so check to see it can cope with vibration before buying one. The video from the bullet camera was recorded on a jxd900 portable media player which records to SD card and therefore makes it more resistant to vibrations than cameras that record to DV tape, dvd or hard drives. The sound is recorded using a mic made from approximately this circuit: http://www.reconnsworld.com/audio_singleicpreamp.html The jxd 900 is the limiting factor in the video quality, it only records 320x240 pixels and is fairly high compression. I also made a small voltage regulator to run the camera and mic off the bike's electrical system (not sure if that was needed).
