Dear Mr. Whitacre,
I always considered Sleep to be one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. But I'm afraid that it has now taken a second place to another piece.....
Five Hebrew Love Songs!
As always - looking forward to more discoveries!

I wrote a comment on your explanation video for Five Hebrew Love Songs but wasn't sure if you were going to read it there so decided to write to you on here as well. My simple message is that you are an amazing composer and have created some absolutely stunning pieces but I don't like your Hebrew transliterations. They're too simple and, quite simply, don't reflect how everything should really be pronounced.

I've always loved disonant chords and I never knew of you until a few years ago when one of my choirs at my school sang "sleep" and I fell in love with it and all of your songs. Not many composers can write songs with disonance and none can write like you. The clashing sounds you create are beautiful. I'm going to major in music when i go to college and become a teacher and I've always said my students will get so sick of disonance by the time i'm done with them cuz I'm always going to sing your songs, you are a great composer and conductor and defintely my biggest idol. Thank you for everything you've shown me! :)

Our "chamber choir" at school is in LOVE with your music. In the past 2 years we have performed "With a Lily", "i thank You God.." "This Marriage", "Sleep" and "Go Lovely Rose". Everyone absoloutely loves your work. It is STUNNING!

I have attached the link to our choir (last year) singing "Sleep" at the Ontario Vocal Festival.

All the best to you!

Your music is inspiring. It reminds me of when i go to Austria and i hear their choirs. Your amazing gift of composing is a blessing. I pray that you continue to be inspired so that i can enjoy your works.

God bless you

I feel as though the only two notable American composers would be you and Aaron Copland. Currently, my high school choir is going to sing "Sleep," which I am very fond of (I love the chords and the clashes).
Thanks for all you do!

I love all of your work and my school performs a piece every year. I love hearing them and I love singing them. Thank you so much for composing this music. It's brilliant and it's my favorite music to sing.
